Calendar of Activities (A numbered item indicates a substantial Other Sheep activity)

  • Friday, July 13 – First Day
  • Around 8:00 AM, arrive in Kigali by bus from Kampala (1) with Alfred of UVSO
(whom we invited to join us in Rwanda)
  • Breakfast at a Kigali mall where (2) Emmanuel of Kigali (2008 contact) meets
us; and (3) Steve sends out an eNews to Uganda contacts announcing UBM
July 18 day-seminar; arrangements were made with airlines to return to
Kampala by air; cash advance from bank
  • Bus from Kigali to Gisenyi (three hour trip; excellent roads, unlike Uganda and
Kenya); Elie Gasna, Coordinator for Other Sheep Rwanda (since 2008), meets
us at bus station in Gisenyi and takes us to Musanto Hotel (hotel provides us
with a separate work room at no additional charge)
  • Saturday, July 14 – Second Day
  • (4) One-day seminar with Other Sheep Rwanda (starting on time) and ending at
4:30 PM, at Musanto Hotel; 15 people attend including Elie and (5) Augustine
(2008 contact) who both lead in guiding group discussion leaders; (6) Alfred of
UVSO is given a speaking slot
  • Monies disbursed to individual attendees for cost of transportation to and from
the seminar (a loan obtained from a personal friend of Elie until an additional
money advance could be obtained on Monday)
  • Sunday, July 15 – Third Day
  • We (Jose and Steve) do relaxing things together:  morning walk along the
shore; full day at major resort (Serena) on a lake beach (minimal fee for day
entrance), Elie declines invitation to join us due to pressing follow-up work on
seminar (some damage control, perhaps, as he reported that one attendee was
already giving negative publicity on the pro-LGBT message of the seminar
  • Breakfast with Alfred at Musanto Hotel; Elie meets briefly with us and Alfred at
    hotel; Alfred leaves for Burundi
  • At Serena, where we spend the day, (7) Steve writes article on the one-day
seminar and publishes it to the Other Sheep Blog and sends it out as an eNews
    to worldwide readers
  • Monday, July – Fourth Day
  • We spend the day with Eli from 8AM until 2PM; Breakfast with Elie at Musanto
Hotel; to bank with Elie for cash advance; visit boarder between Rwanda and
Sudan with Elie; (8) tour Other Sheep Rwanda’s new facilities (obtained two
    months earlier) with Eli – download photos and documents to Eli’s computer;
lunch together; at 2PM, board bus for Kigali
  • Arrive in Kigali around 5:30PM, taxi to airport, purchase tickets (on reserve) with
cash, eat at airport, board plan for Kampala
