  • Arrive.  Meet Felix Liew at airport.  Set up: apartment in Kowloon, purchase
    sim card, groceries, etc.
  • We stayed in an apartment with Felix which he arranged for the three
    of us.  Only cost to Other Sheep was utilities (Thanks, Felix!)
  • Go to agency and place application for visas to China
  • We had not received our visas in New York (off the record) and were
    told to try again in Hong Kong.  We were asking for multiple entrance
    (we would enter China three times on this trip).

  • Morning swim at Kowloon public pool (Steve, Jose and Felix)
  • Steve picks up visas (granted); Felix and Jose on computer at Star Bucks
  • China granted multi-entrance visas
  • Blessed Minority Christian Fellowship graciously provided for the cost
    of visas (Thank you BMCF!)
  • DINNER WITH PASTOR SILAS WONG (Pastor), PAUL LUCAS (associate
    minister), AND FERGUS LO (lay leader) OF BLESSED MINORITY
    CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP (Steve, Jose and Felix)
  • PRESENTATION WITH ENGLISH-SPEAKING FELLOWSHIP at BMCF
    (Blessed Minority Christian Fellowship)
  • Steve gave a Power point on Other Sheep Asia Trip 2009
  • 14 people attended (plus Jose and Felix)
  • 11 copies of The Children Are Free were distributed
  • WENT TO PAUL LUCAS' APARTMENT FOLLOWING MEETING FOR
    FELLOWSHIP
  • Met James Choo - Anglican, assisting the priest at the Anglican church
  • Met Sam - closeted, from an evangelical family; told us his story while
    returning together on subway to our homes; attends BMCF

  • Went into Hong Kong to BMCF facilities to worked on our computers
  • Felix firmed up meeting date with Guangzhou
  • Jose finished up Rev. Kimindu's report (Kenya) for YouTube
  • Steve finished up sermon and sent it to Jason for translation
  • Back at Kowloon apartment: Steve rested; Jose and Felix swam
  • Steve spent evening recording receipts and logging activities

  • ATTENDED SAINT JOHN'S CATHEDRAL (Anglican) WITH JAMES AND
    KEVIN who are members at BMCF, and who take active part in the service at
    the Anglican church (BMCF meets Sundays late afternoon).  (Steve, Jose
    and Felix)
  • Sermon by the Dean, The Very Revd Andrew Chan
  • Text:  Luke 10:25-37
  • Message:  "Love like the Samaritan loved; anyone can be our
    neighbor though thousands of miles away; people all over the
    world will become our neighbor; love your God, love your
    neighbor."
  • Met and presented a copy of the book The Children Are Free to:
  • Dean - The Very Revd Andrew Chan
  • Cathedral Chaplain - The Revd John Chynchen
  • The Revd Robert Martin, CMP
  • Left an additional copy of The Children Are Free with the church store
    manager, Mr. Chris Everett
  • DINNER WITH BMCF FOLLOWING THE SERVICE
  • Pastor Silas Wong and his wife and many BMCF members dined
    together at an area restaurant (Steve, Jose and Felix)
  • Met and spoke with a Yale University student
  • COFFEE TOGETHER WITH BMCF- MORE FELLOWSHIP TIME TOGETHER
  • Following dinner, a large group from BMCF went to a second
    establishment for coffee together.  A great time for visiting and
    catching up with each others' news
  • Jose meets and speaks with who a couple who invite us to their beach
    front home for a day visit
  • Return to Kowloon to our apartment (Steve, Jose and Felix)

  • Pack for trip to Guangzhou (Steve, Jose and Felix)
  • HONG KONG ECUMENICAL COUNCIL AND CHRISTIAN SERVICES
  • Present one copy of The Children Are Free to HK Ecu Council
  • Take Metro to border of Hong Kong and mainland China
  • Steve held back at China boarder before given permission to pass
  • Take train from boarder city, Shenzen, China, to Guangzhou, China
  • Obtain and share a room together at Aiqun Hotel, Guangzhou, China (Steve,
    Jose and Felix)
       
    Arrive Monday, July 12, in Guangzhou, China
    Return, Thursday, July 15, to Hong Kong

  • Late check-out from Guangzhou hotel (2pm check out); spent the day each
    doing Other Sheep work on our respective computers (Steve, Jose and Felix)
  • Steve's computer dies
  • Steve's computer fails to fully boot on train from Guangzhou to
    Shenzen (using electric outlets on train)
  • At Kowloon (Hong Kong) apartment, Steve's computer screen remains
    black

  • Spent the day purchasing and setting up new computer for Steve
  • Made purchase at Mong Kong - Computer land in Kowloon (Steve,
    Jose and Felix)
  • Return to apartment with new computer (Steve, Jose and Felix)
  • To Star Bucks to get on line with new computer (no Internet in our
    apartment) (Steve and Jose)
  • New computer required discs for back-up of Windows for computer set-
    up
  • Return to Mong Kong - Computer land in Kowloon (Steve and Jose)
  • Purchase discs; adaptors; power surge multiple plugs
  • Return to Star Bucks to set-up computer -- back-up Windows (Steve
    and Jose)
  • Finished creating back-up discs around 12:30 am (Saturday)
    and booting computer just outside of Star Bucks (which had
    closed), using outlet in a public court area (Steve and Jose)
  • Steve and Jose celebrate at a local stylish, hip Italian trendy restaurant (they
    share a meal)
  • Retire around 1:00 - 2:30am (Saturday) (Steve and Jose)

  • Break - about a 15 minute break with delicate dessert cakes and drink
  • Jose spoke on the next three sections

  • Went to dinner with BMCF (Blessed Minority Christian Fellowship) group

  • Went to a different establishment for coffee with BMCF group (Steve, Jose
    and Felix)
  • Went to terraces of IFC (International Finance Centre) with BMCF group
    (Steve, Jose and Felix)

  • We all sleep until about 10:00 am (from exhaustion)
    (Steve is usually up between 6-7am recording receipts and logging the
    previous day's activities; followed by Jose around 8am - unless Steve
    gets him up before then; and then Felix gets up a little later; Jose and
    Felix are night people; Steve, at times, takes an afternoon nap to keep
    up sleep-wise)
  • Jose engages in conversation with a group of teachers from Spain
  • Review and edit article on ex-gay by Nigel Collett
  • DINNER (in Kowloon) WITH PAUL LUCAS AND FERGUS LO OF BLESSED
    MINORITY CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP (Steve, Jose and Felix)
  • Purpose:  To discuss how to obtain and pay for copies of Boon's book
    (in Chinese) to take with us to Beijing
  • Agreed:  Felix will be in contact with printers in Malaysia to be sure
    additional copies are printed if needed
  • Agreed:  Fergus Lo will cover printing costs and whatever shipping
    costs Felix may incur in bringing the books to Beijing
  • Following diner, Fergus Lo takes us to the Kowloon waterfront to view the
    night skyline of Hong Kong (absolutely stunning) (Steve, Jose and Felix)

  • Steve and Jose spend morning at The Peak
  • Late afternoon and evening at the beach-front get-away home of a
    BMCF gay-couple, situated on an island; two taxi ferries to get to island
    (Steve, Jose and Felix with gay couple and another BMCF friend)

    Pastor, by name; second copy to the Associate Pastor who said he deliver the first
    copy to the pastor)
